What is Patience?
Patience consists in preventing the impatience and discontent of the soul, in preventing the language from complaining and in the parts of the body that they hurt themselves or others. Patience is mentioned in many places in the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Beloved Prophet (SAW), which shows the virtues and greatness of patience. In Arabic, (Sabr) Patience means confining or containing.
Patience in Islam:
Patience has great status in the eyes of Allah Almighty and Islam. Patience is the best of acts and has the great reward without limit. Allah Almighty said in the Qur’an: “Only those who are patient will receive their rewards in full, without Hisaab (without limit, calculation and estimation).” (Qur’an, 39:10). There is no great reward except for those of us who are patient with the decree of their Lord. In this world, we face many difficulties or trials and sufferings, but we must be patient because Allah Almighty loves those who have had patience (Sabr) in a difficult time.
As Islam is a complete code of life, it guides us and teaches us in all areas of life. This teaches us that we must be patient in our difficult situation, because we firmly believe in Almighty Allah that He will never leave us alone. In the Qur’an, Allah said, “And be patient. Surely Allah is with those who are patient. “
Allah has told those who face difficulties or trials that He is with them by guiding and supporting them and giving them a clear victory. Allah said, “Surely Allah is with those who are As-Saabiroon (the patient)” (Qur’an, 8:46). From this verse of the Holy Qur’an, we can say that whatever the situation we are facing, we must be faithful and patient as Allah is with us. He will never leave us alone.
The reward of patience:
A person who loves the Almighty Allah finds it much easier to be patient and to persevere. It is because he sees everything from Allah, and if it comes from Allah, there must be a reason for it. A person who loves wants the Beloved to see him in the best of times and thus proves the best of his patience. Patience is a virtue that allows the individual to move toward laudable goals.
So many times in our lives, something happens to us and we think it’s the worst thing that can happen to us. But then, after the trial, when relief and ease come, we realize that the hard times were over for good. It is therefore important that believers be patient and know that Allah (SWT) is enough for us and that he is the best organizer of all our affairs. He will guide us to what is good for us in this life and the afterlife too.
If we do not get the reward of patience in this world, it will surely be saved by Allah Almighty for the Hereafter that will never end. Our beloved prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, “Whoever persists in being patient, Allah will make him patient. No one can receive a blessing better and greater than patience. “(Al-Bukhari)
Benefits of patience
Patience is the great virtue and importance of patience that we will recover with great rewards and benefits. Some of these rewards and benefits are immediate and others longer term. The many benefits of patience in the Qur’an and Sunnah are:
Patience in the Koran:
The Qur’an contains more than ninety verses on the virtues and benefits of patience. Some are given below:
People who have patience are the right people to lead. We can therefore say that leadership comes with patience, as Allah says in the Qur’an: “And we have trained leaders guided by Our commandment when they were patient and Our signs. “(Qur’an, 32:24)
With patience, you will get all the good things as Allah the Almighty says in the Quran: “But if you endure patiently, in truth, it is better for As-Sabirin.” (Qur’an, 16: 126)
If you are patient in all your suffering, patients will receive many rewards for their good deeds. Allah says in the Holy Qur’an: “Only those who are patient will receive their rewards in full, without counting.” (Quran, 39:10)
Allah is with those who are patient. He says in the Qur’an: “And be patient. Surely Allah is with those who are As-Sabirin. “(Qur’an, 8:46)
Patience is something that is recommended by the Almighty Allah, which means that it requires determination. In the Holy Qur’an, Allah said: “And indeed, everyone who shows patience and forgiveness would be truly inspired by the things that Allah recommends.” (Quran, 42:43)
Those who will remain patient will enter paradise. Allah said in the Quran: “These will be rewarded with the highest place (in paradise) because of their patience. They will be welcomed with greetings and the word of peace and respect. “(Quran, 25:75)
Prophet Muhammad’s Sunnah Patience (SAW):
There are so many examples related to the patience in the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) that we should consider and practice in our daily lives while facing challenges or difficulties. Some of the words of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) relating to patience are given below:
Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said that patience is enlightenment. “As-Sabr (patience) is enlightenment.” (Muslim 223).
Whoever has loved ones or loved ones dies and patiently endures, Allah will also admit him to paradise as a reward for his patience. He (SAW) said: “Allah said: ‘I have nothing to give, but paradise as a reward for my salvation, a true believer of Islamic monotheism who, if I kill his dear friend (or relative) , remain patient (and hope to receive the reward of Allah) ” (Al-Bukhari)
The reward of being patient while the true believer is afflicted with all kinds of calamities and trials. The Holy Prophet (SAW) said: “No fatigue, no sickness, no sorrow, no sadness, no pain, no distress will befall a Muslim, even if it is the sting he receives from a thorn but it is Allah who expiates part of his sins. it. “(Al-Bukhari)
The Holy Prophet (SAW) said: “The believer who mingles with people and bears his boredom with patience will have a greater reward than the believer who does not meddle with people and does not bear their boredom.” (Ibn Majah)
Be attentive to Allah and be patient, as the Prophet (PBUH) said: “In truth, patience is at the first strike” (Sahih Bukhari)
