My question is about dhikhr after each make up. I read a hadith that recites
“Allahu Akbar”, “Al-hamdulillah” and “SubhanAllah” 33 times each. I was informed only about 30 times in total after each attorney (Allahu Akbar, Al-Hamdulillah and SubhanAllah 10 times). What is the right method for this particular dhikr? In addition, it has been reported to me that you do the same thing before going to sleep, except that you recite “Allahu Akbar” 34 times, which represents a total of one hundred.

The dhikr after salaah mentioned in the question was reported in a hadith narrated by the Messenger of Allah (Abu Hurayrah) (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): Whoever glorifies Allah (says Subhaan Allah) thirty-three times immediately after each prays and praises Allah (said Al-hamdu Lillaah) thirty-three times, and magnifies Allah (says Allahu Akbar), thirty-three times, that is ninety-nine years, then complete a hundred times, says Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulk wa lahul-hamd wa huwa ala kulli shayin qadeer (There is no other god than Allah alone, without a partner, to him power and praise, and he is able to do everything) his will be forgiven even if they are like the foam of the sea.

A number of different descriptions of the dhikr after salaah have been reported, an example of which has been cited in the question. The proof is the hadeeth of ‘Abd-Allah ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: There are two qualities, no Muslim man acquires them but he will enter paradise, and they are simple and easy. He should glorify Allah (say Subhaan Allah) ten times immediately after each prayer, praise him (say Al-hamdu Lillaah) ten times and magnify him (say Allahuah Akbar) ten times. I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) counting this on his fingers. He said: It is a hundred and fifty on the tongue and a thousand and five hundred (hasanaat) in the balance.
[Translator’s note: each of the three repeated sentences ten times makes thirty; multiplied by the number of daily prayers, which is five, makes one hundred and fifty. Each of these good deeds of the tongue will be rewarded with ten hasanaat which will be added to the total of the good deeds to be weighed in the balance or the balance the day of the judgment]. When you go to bed, glorify him, praise him and magnify him a hundred times: it will be a hundred on the tongue and a thousand on the scales. Among the adhkaar who can be recited before going to bed, as mentioned in the question, there is one reported in the hadith of Ali ibn Abi Taalib (may Allah please him), who said that Faatimah (on whom be peace) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and asked him for a servant. He said: Am I not going to talk to you about something that is better for you than that? When you go to sleep, say Subhaan Allah thirty-three times, Al-hamdu Lillah thirty-three times and Allaahu Akbar thirty-four times.

As for the count of this tasbeeh, the Sunna must use the fingers of the right hand, although it is allowed to use the left hand. The proof that the right hand is preferable was reported by Abu Dawood (may Allah have mercy on him), who said: Ubayd-Allaha ibn Umar ibn Maysarah and Muhammad ibn Qudaamah, among others, told us: Aththaam told us from al-Amash of Ataa ibn al-Saaib from his father of Abd-Allaah ibn Amr who said: I saw the Apostle of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) counting the tasbeeh. Ibn Qudaamah said: With his right hand.

It has been said to Haashiyat al-Tahtaawi: It is true that he counted (the blessing and salvation of Allah be upon him) to count the tasbeeh on his right hand. It was reported that he said: Count with your fingertips, as they will be asked to speak. Ibn Hijr said: It is better to count the tasbeeh with the fingertips than to use the subhah (rosary or rosary).
The sunna must count with the fingertips by placing them on the palm of the hand. As far as the finger of the right hand with which one should start, I have no specific information about it.
