Leave the house? These are the lessons of life that you really nee
The government is launching a new course to teach Grade 6 students how to cook, clean and manage their money. But what about not to panic at the state of a communal well?

The government has announced a course to help teens prepare to leave home. The Leapskills program will teach junior students to cook from scratch, manage their money and clean up. Hopefully the program will also cover the following …
How to store a pantry
When you leave your home for the first time, Yotam Ottolenghi and his relatives are not your friends. Even if you manage to cook one of their masterpieces containing millions of ingredients for your roommates, you will invariably spend the next two months wadding remaining sumac handles. Instead, buy a load of pasta and a ton of canned tuna and you’ll never go hungry.
How to drive
Think about it, someone who has spent about twenty years passing his test: the driving is impressive, especially if none of your friends can drive. They will see you rock in your Vauxhall Corsa, and you will unconsciously remind them of their parents. And then you will have the status. And then you can treat them like dirt, which is the best part of being an adult.
How to detach
Listen, you’re going to scramble with your new roommates. You have moved in with a group of people who have been raised quite differently from you and it will take time to acclimatize. One day, I had a roommate who never cleaned the sink after shaving. I had another who thought it was ok to brush your teeth in the living room. I did not learn until the second year of college that not everyone was educated to announce to the whole hall that they needed a poop. It will take time to get used to these differences, but it will be much easier if you do not escape each time you see a half-beard out of the trunk.
How to call your parents
Of course, they wanted you out of the house since you were 10, but now you are gone and they are forced to face the cold reality of their marriage without you having to hide behind, they are terrified. So try to check them from time to time.
