Dua Sneezers replies back In English

May Allah guide you and rectify your condition.
Sahih Al-Bukhari: 6224

The etiquette of sneezing: praising Allaah, saying “May Allaah have mercy on you” and responding to the one who says that

Question

Many Muslims, if they sneeze and someone says, “Yarhamuk Allah (may Allah have mercy on you),” say, “Yarhamuna wa yarhamukum Allah (may Allah have mercy on us and you)” or “Hadaana wa hadaakum Allah (May Allah) guide us and you).
How correct is this form? Is it narrated by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)? What is the correct form that is told by him?

Answer

Praise be to Allah.
Different forms of sneezing praising Allah and responding to the one who says, “May Allah have mercy on you” have been told.
Al-Bukhari (6224) told Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “When one of you sneezes, tell him: ‘Al-hamdu-Lillaah (Praise be to Allah), and let his brother or companion tell him.
“Yarhamuk Allah (may Allaah have mercy on you).” If he says, “Yarhamuk Allah”, then let (sneeze) say, “Yahdeekum Allah wa yuslihu baalakum (May Allah guide you and correct your condition).
” Imam al-Bukhari told Abu Hurayrah in al-Adab al-Mufrad (5033) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “When one of you sneezes, say him: ‘Al-hamdu-Lillaah’ ala kulli haal (Praise be to Allah in all situations), and let his brother or his companion say to him: ‘Yarhamuk Allah (may Allaah have mercy on him). ‘If he says,’ Yarhamuk-Allah, then (Sneezing says, ‘Yahdeekum Allah wa yuslihu baalakum (May Allah guide you and correct your condition)’ ‘ Classified as saheeh by al-Albaani in the Sahih Abi Dawood.
Abu Dawood (5031) and al-Tirmidhi (2740) related that Saalim ibn ‘Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When one of you sneezes, says to him: ‘Al-hamdu-Lillaah Rabb he-‘Aalameen (Allah be the Lord of the Worlds),’ and whoever answers him answer: ‘Yarhamuk Allah (may Allah have mercy on you),’ and let him say, ‘Yaghfir Allahuah lana wa lakum (may Allah have mercy on us and you.’

Ranked as da’eef by al-Albaani in Da’eef Abi Dawood. But he classified it as a sahee in the al-Adab al-Mufrad sahe (715) with a mawqoof isnaad who stopped at ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood (may Allah be pleased with him).
It is said that Abu Hamza said: I heard Ibn Abbaas say when someone told him, “Yarhamuk Allah (may Allaah have mercy on him)”:
“Aafaana Allah wa iyyaakum min al-naar, yarhamukum Allah (we save Allah) and you from fire, may Allah have mercy on you.
” Classified as saheeh by al-Albaani in Sahih al-Adab al-Mufrad, 955. Maalik narrated in al-Muwatta ‘(1800) of Naafi’ that if Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sneezes and is told: “Yarhamuk Allah (may Allah grant you his mercy), he said: “Yarhamuna Allahuwa wa iyyaakum wa yaghfir lana wa lakum (may Allah have mercy on us and on you, forgive us and forgive you).”
Al-Nawawi said in Sharh Muslim:

Al-Qaadi said: Scholars have differed on how to praise Allah or respond, and there are various reports about it. It was said that he should say, “Al-hamdu Lillaah (praise to Allah),” or “Al-hamdu-Lillaah Rabb al-Alamen (Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds),” or “Al-Hamdu Lillaah ‘ala kulli haal (Praise be to Allah in all situations)’. Ibn Jareer said: He has a choice between all of this. This is the correct view, but they agree that it is enjoined to praise Allah. He said: And they differed as to how the sneeze is to answer to the one who says “Yarhamuk Allah”.
It has been said that he should say, “Yahdeekum Allah (wa yuslihu baalakum)”. or that he should say, “Yaghfir Allaahu Lana wa Lakum (may Allah forgive and forgive you).” Maalik and al-Shaafa’i said: He has a choice between these two options. This is the correct view, and the ahadith that mention them are Sahih.
End quote Conclusion: The phrases used to praise Allah have been told in different forms: Al-Hamdu Lillaah (Praise be to Allah) Al-hamdu-Lillaah ‘ala kulli haal (Praise be to Allah in all situations) Al-hamdu-Lillaah Rabb he-‘Aalameen (Praise be to Allah the Lord of the worlds) The phrases used to pray for the mercy of sneezing were also told in different forms: Yahdeekum Allah wa yuslihu baalakum (may Allah guide you and rectify your situation) Yaghfir Allaahu Lana wa Lakum (May Allah forgive and forgive you) ‘Aafaana Allah wa iyyaakum min al-naar, yarhamukum Allah (may Allah save us and save you from fire, may Allah have mercy on you) Yarhamuna allaahu wa iyyaakum wa yaghfir lana wa lakum (may Allah have mercy on us and on you, may He forgive us and forgive you) All are Sahih and the Muslim can choose whatever he wants. And Allah knows better.
