Saying a dou’a “of the Qur’an when bowing

Question
I am new to Islam and I learned that it was not allowed to recite the Qur’an when it was prostrate. But this is the best time to do du’a because we are closest to his Creator. My question is: what about the du’a we have that come from the Quran. Are we allowed to do with them in prostration? Or is it considered a recitation?
Reply

Praise be to Allah.
First:

The Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade reciting the Qur’an when bowing and prostrating.

Muslim (479) reported that Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “I was forbidden to recite the Koran when I prostrated or prostrated myself. . As for greeting, glorify your Lord, and prostrate, strive for du’aa, because it deserves an answer (from your Lord). “

Muslim (480) related that ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade me to recite the Qur’an when he bows down and lowers himself.

Scholars agree that it is the Makrooh to recite the Qur’an when bowing or prostrating.

See al-Majmoo ‘, 3/411; al-Mughni, 2/181

The wisdom behind this is:

It has been said that the best pillar of prayer is standing and that the best of the dhikr recites the Koran. The best has been presented with the best, and it is forbidden to put it with anything else, lest anyone think it equal to other types of dhikr. “Awn al-Ma’bood.

It has been said that it is because the Qur’an is the noblest speech of all, it is the Word of Allah and the position of prostration and prostration is imbued with humility and submission on the part of God. loyal. do not recite the word of Allah in these two positions. Majmoo ‘al-Fataawa, 5/338

Secondly:

If a person recites a du’aa mentioned in the Qur’an when he prostrates himself, such as the word (interpretation of meaning): “Our Lord! Give us in this world what is good and in the hereafter what is good, and save us from the torment of fire “[al-Baqarah 2: 201], there is nothing wrong with that , if the intention is to say du’aa ‘and not to recite the Qur’an, for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The actions are only by intentions, and every person will only have what he intended to do. Bukhaari, 1; Muslim, 1907.

Al-Zarkashi said: It is a makrooh when it comes to reciting the Qur’an, but if it is conceived as du’aa ‘and as a praise, it’s as if someone had made Qunoot while reciting a verse. End quote.

Doing Qunoot by reciting a verse from the Quran is allowed and is not a makrooh.

Tuhfat al-Muhtaaj, 2/61

Al-Nawawi said in Al-Adhkaar (p.59)

If a person does Qunoot by reciting a verse that includes a du’aa, then he did so, but it is better to say the duaa as indicated in the Sunnah. End quote.

This applies if he intends to say du’aa when reciting the verse.

See al-Futoohaat al-Rabbaaniyyah Sharh al-Adhkaar al-Nawawiyyah by Ibn ‘Allaan, 2/308

The Standing Committee scholars were interviewed: We know that it is not permissible to recite the Qur’an when bowed down, but some verses include the du’aa, such as the words “Our Lord! Do not let our hearts depart (from the truth) after you have guided us “[Aal ‘Imraan 3: 8]. What is the decision to say such du’aa that are mentioned in the Qur’an when they bow down?

They replied: There is nothing wrong with this if it is done as du’aa ‘and not as recitation of the Qur’an. End quote.

Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah, 6/443.
