Dua When Wearing New Clothes In English
O Allah, praise is to You. You have clothed me. I ask You for its goodness and the goodness of what it has been made for, and I seek Your protection from the evil of it and the evil of what it has been made for
.Abu Dawud: 4020, At-Tirmidhi: 1767
All about washing new clothes
Most of us like new clothes. They are perfect. “The colors are bright, the lines are crisp and the embellishments are virgin, so why would you wash them and risk changing your look before you can wear them?
3 reasons why new clothes should be washed before wearing
There are three good reasons to wash new clothes, especially underwear or t-shirts and shorts worn in direct contact with your skin before wearing.
Dye transfer in bulk
One of the reasons to wash new clothes is to remove any extra dye that can be applied to your skin or other clothes. Most synthetic fiber fabrics (polyester, acrylic) are colored with azo-aniline dyes. These dyes can cause serious skin reactions in people, especially small children, who are allergic to it. If the allergy is severe, the rash will be similar to poison ivy. But even less severe reactions can cause dry, irritated skin patches.
Bacteria, fungi and insects
It is possible to transfer lice, scabies, bacteria and fungi from one person to another when the clothes are being tested. Cloakrooms can become fertile ground for everything from athlete’s foot viruses. Why take this risk?
Chemical irritants
And, more importantly, new clothes must be washed to remove chemical finishes such as urea-formaldehyde that manufacturers put on clothing to enhance color or texture. The finishes will not disturb everyone, but if you have sensitive skin, you can develop a rash, especially in areas of constant contact, such as underarms, collars, wrists, thighs and thighs.
Urea-formaldehyde is often the chemical used to prevent mildew from forming on clothing that has to be shipped long distances in hot, humid containers from Asia and South America to the United States. It has a very strong odor that will remain in the fabric until the garment is washed. A wash will probably not remove all the formaldehyde, but you will significantly reduce the resin, which will continue to be removed with each wash.
How to wash new clothes
New clothing should be washed according to the instructions on the care label. If the garment has a label stating “wash separately before wearing”, beware of dye transfer and bleeding of colors. Washing will help remove some of the excess dye, but check the rinse water after each wash. If the color stays in the water, you will continue to wash separately or with similar colors. Several washes may be necessary to remove excess dye and prevent damage to other tissues.
New bed linen and towels should be washed to remove applied chemicals as they come into direct contact with the skin. Washing will also improve the absorbency of the fabric by removing the surface coatings of the fibers.
Protect your baby’s skin
It is particularly important that children’s clothes, especially babies’ clothes, be washed before being worn. Babies are particularly sensitive to chemicals and can cause rashes. Choose a detergent without perfume and dye, because dyes and detergent odors can also cause skin reactions. In addition, washing new clothes for children will make them softer and more comfortable to wear.

What about second-hand or second-hand clothes?
Clothes in storage or in thrift stores must always be washed or dry cleaned before wearing them for hygienic purposes and to avoid skin irritation. Even though these clothes may have been cleaned prior to sale, washing them with your usual detergent will ensure better results for your family. This is especially important if a person in your home has a sensitivity to scents such as fabric softeners that many people love.
If the garment has excessive odors of perfume or scented products, you must take additional measures that go beyond just washing. Wash as suggested and if odor persists, use fresh air to help remove the scent. Or, soak clothes overnight in a sink or bucket of warm water and a cup of baking soda before washing. Add one cup of distilled white vinegar to the rinse cycle to help remove detergent or fabric softener residue from the fibers that may retain the fragrance.
Allow the freshly laundered clothes to air dry in a windy place and perform a final sniff test before wearing them.

What can I do to reduce the exposure of chemicals to clothing?
You can avoid certain chemicals by buying organic fiber clothing made organically. But be sure to read the care labels, because not all cotton, linen and wool clothes are equal. Manufacturers are applying chemicals to prevent mildew and natural fibers are particularly vulnerable to mold if they are exposed to moisture during a long shipping process by foreign manufacturers.
Choose clothes that can be washed at home to avoid the chemicals used in the dry cleaning process.
