I do it in English, making the intention at the beginning of the fast that I will begin the fast, beginning with / eating the food that comes from the mercy of God. I also end the fast by saying in English that I fasted today by obeying the orders of Allah and that I broke the fast with the food that came from him. I personalize it in the sense that I also ask him to accept my efforts and make me able to fast for him, at the request of him. I can ask that he forgive my sins and grant me the good things of this life and the good things of the hereafter and that he saves me from the punishment of the fire of hell (he is an ayat of Koran!). There are rituals “duahs / niyaat” that can be done but I choose not to do it. It’s a personal thing !! My humble opinion!

At the beginning of fasting:

“Nawaietu An Asooma Ghadan Lillaahi Ta’aalaa Min Faradi Ramadaana Haazaa (I wanted for the sake of Allah that I will respect the obligatory fast of this tomarrow of Ramadan)”

By breaking the fast:

“Allaahumma laka sumtu wa ‘ala rizqika aftartu (O Allah, because you have fasted and by your disposition I broke the fast).”

It is important to note that it is not obligatory to say anything at the beginning or the end of the fast. Even if you do not say anything but want to fast, fasting remains valid. The intention to fast is more important than the supplications.

Salam.

Praise belongs to Allah who has guided us to his praise and placed us among the people of praise, so that we may be among the grateful for his beneficence and may he reward us for this with the reward of the benefactors!
And praise belongs to God who has designated among these roads his month,
the month of Ramadan,
the month of fasting,
the month of submission,
the month of purity,
the month of the test,
the month of prayers,
in which the Qur’an was sent as a guide to the people and as a clear sign of the Guide and the Separator.
Al-Sahifa Al-Sajjadiah.
